Poison Ivy

Bio-Contrôle Arboricole offers a service for the eradication of poison ivy and ragweed.

We use a low-impact contact herbicide that can be used in all municipalities in Quebec, even in wet environments!!

The treatment involves three applications at one-month intervals, with the first application ideally made around mid-May.

It has been shown that the treatment causes an 80% reduction in poison ivy after one season and a nearly 100% reduction in aerial parts after four treatments over two seasons. Then, if new shoots occur after the aerial disappearance of poison ivy, simply reapply as soon as they reappear.

What is poison ivy?

Poison ivy (Toxicodendron radicans) is a toxic plant that causes allergic reactions such as itching and blisters due to its sap containing a substance called urushiol. It is recognized by its leaves composed of three leaflets and is often found in wooded areas. Avoid all contact to prevent irritation.

Why remove poison ivy?

It is important to remove poison ivy to avoid any risk of contact due to the allergic reactions mentioned above. By eliminating the plant, you reduce the risk of contamination for people. One can have a reaction to poison ivy through indirect contact, meaning via an animal that touched it, clothing, or tools that have been in contact with poison ivy. Additionally, removing poison ivy helps prevent its spread in the garden or outdoor spaces.
